| Dog lover, social commentator and humorist; Joe Bennett has
been tickling New Zealand's funny bone in his newspaper columns for (it seems like)
forever. His column in Wellington's Dominion newspaper is published once a
week. I have a friend who makes a point of buying the newspaper only on the day when Joe
Bennett's column appears. Every so often, columns from various newspapers are collected
together and published as a book. The World's Your Lobster is the latest of
these. All is grist to Joe Bennett's mill. He makes two court appearances (once as Britney Spears), he reveals the inside secrets of the world of high finance, he gives advice to those people thinking of buying a jogger, and he eavesdrops on the Pope. And in between, he takes his dog for a walk. There is wit, there is humour and there is Joe Bennett. It's hard to tell them apart. |
